100W of power * 8 hours = .8KWh, or somewhere around 8¢ of power. So, if resume from hibernate takes 30s of your time, then you should only use hibernate if your time is worth less than 8¢*(3600/30) = $9.60 per hour.

But I’ve learned never to say never about technology. A phone-sized device that would work as a development machine is no more miraculous by present standards than the iPhone itself would have seemed by the standards of 1995.
